Novelle Principal Awarded Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Washington, DC – August 1, 2006 – Novelle principal Henry R. Winogrond was recently awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. In a letter signed by President George W. Bush, Mr. Winogrond’s work as a volunteer was recognized by the Presidential Council on Service and Civic Participation. An additional letter was also sent from the Presidential Council signed by Chairman Darrell Green and Co-Chairmen Bob Dole and John Glenn.

Over the last several years, Mr. Winogrond has worked as a volunteer in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, assisting rural and indigenous groups in food production, processing, logistics, and marketing. The projects have ranged from tropical fruit production and distribution in several islands of Indonesia, to fruit and vegetable marketing in Nicaragua, to banana production, ripening and marketing in Eritrea and Bangladesh. Mr. Winogrond has worked with several agencies on these projects, including Winrock International, the Committee for the Network on Foreign Affairs (CNFA), and ACDI-VOCA.
